In this commission from 2022, Vancouver singer-songwriter and composer Emily Millard sets texts from Emily Carr's journals, in a substantial work which depicts a journey "Towards the Light" - and the inherent conflict between nature and humanity.  Musically accessible, but with dense writing and haunting melodies, Millard's work would make a great addition to any program reflecting on the natural world.
