This challenging and thrilling work is worth the effort - Ramona stunningly sets Rilke's text in 'In tiefen Nächten' with the care and passion that almost creates a new genre of choral art song.  She writes: "Rainer Maria Rilke’s poem "In tiefen Nächten" appears in a set entitled Das Stunden-Buch (The Book of Hours), which the poet considered not only the beginning of his authentic expression but also a collection of personal prayers. In this particular poem Rilke speaks of a matchless, numinous beauty which he can sense but labours to attain, a state of grace he attempts to experience through relationships deemed holy and rooted in the human body, in nature and in the intimations of the divine in the world. I have attempted to faithfully set to music, as best I could, what Rilke has so inimitably described – his stark, provoking images and his search and deep understanding of both the physical and spiritual worlds."
