November 21, 2013 | musica intima welcomes new General Manager, Bess Albrecht

Vancouver, BC—musica intima is excited to formally announce that Bess Albrecht, an eight-year ensemble veteran, transitioned from singing to the position of General Manager as of November 15th, 2013. Hailing from Regina, Saskatchewan, Bess brings an array of musical and administrative experience to her new duties.

Bess received her Bachelor’s Degree in Jazz Studies at Capilano University in North Vancouver, where she later taught as a private instructor for the Jazz Studies and Continuing Education programs. Throughout her involvement with musica intima, Bess has been regarded as among the most talented and promising jazz singers in Canada, winning, among other accolades, the Galaxie Rising Star Award at the 2009 Vancouver International Jazz Festival.

Since 2009 Bess has been working as a Marketing Manager and Real Estate Administrator in addition to her role as a permanent ensemble member with musica intima. She brings extensive sales, administrative, and marketing skills to the society. Over the last eight years, Bess has served on musica intima’s strategic planning, development and finance committees, and has consistently collaborated on artistic programming and budgets in her capacity as Ensemble Chair. Regarding her vision for musica intima, Albrecht says, “These are dynamic times in both the arts and non-profit sectors. I am excited to have the opportunity to further musica intima’s established track record for artistic excellence and innovation with both new and existing audiences.”

Bess’ ensemble and administrative experience is complemented by her interest in fundraising, and its increasing relevance in the arts. She is currently enrolled as a part-time student in BCIT’s Fundraising Management Program, working towards her Associate Certificate.

"The board is very excited to work with Bess in her new capacity as General Manager,” according to musica intima Board President, Leigh Taylor. “We are confident she has the talent, drive and skills necessary to steward the society and its vision."
